Mission of the Southern Catholic College Library
The mission of Southern Catholic College Library is to support the educational programs of the College through access to information resources and services which support the liberal arts and which contribute to the academic, personal and spiritual growth of the Southern Catholic College community. To accomplish this goal the library provides instruction in the effective use of all information resources which contribute to a fully integrated education and to the College’s mission to educate students in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
General Information
SCC’s Library, which is conveniently located in the Academic Center, provides students with a library collection of print and online resources. A study area, ten workstations and a printer/copier are available for student use.
Hours
Regular hours of operation are posted at the beginning of each semester. The library is open seven days a week for student and faculty use.
Library Staff
Southern Catholic College’s library offers the service of a professional librarian to assist students in the effective use of all information resources. Student assistants operate the circulation desk and provide valuable help in routine matters of library operations.
Library Collection
Our collection consists of approximately 4500 books as well as access to over 22,000 electronic books via NetLibrary. Students have access to 120 databases and approximately 23,000 journals using GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online). Through wireless connectivity, the library catalog and online resources are available 24/7. GALILEO is available to students off campus via an off-site password obtained from the library staff.

Formal Library Agreements
In addition to services provided on campus, SCC has established formal library agreements with the Dawson County Public Library, Gainesville State College, and North Georgia College & State University. Conveniently located to SCC, students can use and borrow materials from each of these institutions. For detailed information regarding the use of these libraries, students should check with the Library Director.
